Aromatherapy is an alternative medicinal treatment using ayurvedic essential oils to help alleviate ailments. The practice uses essential oils, diluted with carrier oils, to be inhaled, absorbed through the skin, or sometimes ingested. The most common way to practice aromatherapy is through inhalation. The essential oils are absorbed through the cell linings of the respiratory passages and exported throughout the body with help from mucous secretions.
Aromatherapy is particularly helpful to people with asthma. Asthma is a chronic disease that’s usually exhibited by a person having difficulty breathing, coughing, and wheezing. Steam distillation is the best way to use it for asthma treatment. Steam distillation is a special type of distillation for temperature sensitive materials like essential oils. Some organic compounds tend to decompose at high temperatures, so separation by normal distillation would not work, so water or steam is introduced into the distillation process. By adding water (steam), the boiling points of the compounds are depressed, allowing them to evaporate at lower temperatures, lower ones than their disintegration points. eSutras Organics has lots of essential oils that have been known to aid asthma problems.
