Why You Should Buy Organic

The number one question I get when I tell people I work for an organic food company is “Why is organic food so expensive?” The second question I get is “Why should I buy organic?” Hopefully this information will answer both those questions. My usually response is “It’s better for the environment, and you body in the long run.” But there are more concrete reasons organic food is beneficial to your life. First off, organic food forbids the use of genetically-engineered ingredients, often known as GMOs (genetically-modified organisms). GMOs are species that have been altered, manipulated and designed in a laboratory, and foreign genes, have been inserted into them. Nearly 80% of the foods on supermarket shelves contain GMOs, and nearly all of the corn, soy and canola in the U.S. is genetically-modified. To make matter worse, no long-term safety studies on GMOs have ever been completed. Research has shown that GMOs cause infertility and asthma problems, as well as a litany of oth...

Take a Stand for our Land

The news has been abuzz lately with the talk of the company Monsanto. For those of you who don’t know Monsanto is the world’s leading producer of genetically engineered seeds, providing the technology in 90% of genetically engineered seeds in the U.S. Lately they have been under fire for a lawsuit brought against them by farmers seeking protection against Monsanto's predatory patent enforcements. Unfortunately the case was dismissed with little hope at appeal. People devoted to the thriving of organic foods and should take a stand against this giant corporation, who has little regard for people and too much regard for profit. Do whatever you can to help these farmers out! Sign petitions, protest, or simply get the knowledge out. Every little bit counts. Hopefully if enough people are against their predatory ways that hurt farmers everywhere, we can show that organic and green living doesn’t have a monetary value! eSutras Organics food is not related to Monsanto. We gather our...

Frankincense & Myrrh

Myrrh was used as an embalming ointment and as a penitential incense in funerals and cremations until the 15th century. The "holy oil" traditionally used by the Eastern Orthodox Church for performing the sacraments of chrismation and unction is traditionally scented with myrrh, and receiving either of these sacraments is commonly referred to as "receiving the Myrrh". Myrrh and frankincense have had spiritual significance since ancient times and they also were adopted as medicines for physical ailments. When referring to this pair of herbs, Westerners might immediately think of their historic importance in religion. The herbs are best known through the story of the Three Wise Men (Magi) delivering gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the baby Jesus; myrrh was also used to anoint Jesus' body after the crucifixion. Genetically Modified Foods

List of genetically modified foods: It’s virtually impossible to provide a complete list of genetically modified food (GM food) in the United States because there aren’t any laws for genetically modified crops! Some estimates say as many as 30,000 different products on grocery store shelves are "modified." That's largely because many processed foods contain soy. Half of North America's soy crop is genetically engineered! Rapeseed - Resistance to certain pesticides and improved rapeseed cultivars to be free of erucic acid and glucosinolates. Gluconsinolates, which were found in rapeseed meal leftover from pressing, are toxic and had prevented the use of the meal in animal feed. In Canada, where "double-zero" rapeseed was developed, the crop was renamed "canola" (Canadian oil) to differentiate it from non-edible rapeseed. Honey - Honey can be produced from GM crops. Some Canadian honey comes from bees collecting nectar from GM c...
