The Benefits of Cherries!!!

The nutritional benefits of cherries are pretty big, particularly when you consider their small size. Many of the health benefits of cherries are related to the natural chemical that gives them their color. Anthocyanins give flowers, berries and other fruits the colors ranging from red to blue. Some of the best food sources of anthocyanins are red grapes, chokeberry, eggplant and, of course, cherries. These pigments attract pollinators, act as a “sunscreen” and protect the plant from radicals formed by UV light, so they act as antioxidants. The antioxidant benefits are transferred to people when the fruits or vegetables are eaten. The health benefits of cherries and other plant foods containing anthocyanins are many. Anthocyanins are used by the body to produce essential amino acids. As antioxidants, they protect the cells of the body from the damaging, aging and disease producing affects of oxygen, nitrogen and UV radiation. Anthocyanins are also natural pain relieve...

Walnut Wheat Cake (Bread): Delicious & Moist!!!

Last week at our office meeting our wonderful owner, Aisha Bauer surprised us with a delicious treat!!! Her very own Walnut Wheat Cake. Ingredients: 300g whole meal wheat flour (I used Bob Redmill) 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda 100g sugar 1 packet of walnut pieces and sunflower seeds (I used 200g mix but make it as nutty as you like!) 1 cup of soy milk (or enough to mix to a good consistency - the wetter you make it, the moister the cake in theory) half a cup of eSutras Heart Healthy 0il *Link: http://www.esutras.com/index.php/eSutras/Condiments-Oils-Spreads/8130-Cooking-Oil-Heart-Healthy-Organic.html 2 tbsp of cranberries and raisins pinch of eSutras French Four Spices Blend *Link: http:/...

Rose and an Amaranth blossomed side by side in a garden, and the Amaranth said to her neighbor, "How I envy you your beauty and your sweet scent! No wonder you are such a universal favourite." But the Rose replied with a shade of sadness in her voice, "Ah, my dear friend, I bloom but for a time: my petals soon wither and fall, and then I die. But your flowers never fade, even if they are cut; for they are everlasting." Aesop's Fables We're starting a new feature on this blog, something I'd like to call our Hump Day Special. Adding soy to your diet is easy. The World's Best Banana (Chocolate Chip) Muffin

We here at eSutras can vouch for this recipe's claim as best in the world; we all tried it today at our Holiday party. And it's totally vegan! Courtesy of Sara K. Fay : 1 1/2 cups of overripe bananas (4 bananas should do the trick), mashed 1/3 cup soy milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 cups flour 1/3 cup eSutras Dark Agave Nectar (we substituted half of this amount with Date syrup - Yum! You can also try maple syrup.) 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup eSutras Organics Vegan Chocolate Morsels (add more if you like) Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Mash bananas and add wet ingredients. Mix dry ingredients separately; add to wet mix. Add chocolate morsels. Don't over-mix; leave it nice and clumpy, especially when dealing with the bananas. Bake for 20 minutes (or until you check that it's cooked all the way through). Enjoy! Easy & delicious. Pictured below are our Vegan Chocolate Morsels. Shop online at eSutras Organics today!
