Post Valentine's Day Recipe!

Now that Valentine’s Day is over its time to take inventory; Roses (check), stuffed animal (check), chocolate (DOUBLE CHECK!). More than anything else chocolates are the #1 gift people give on Valentine’s Day, but normally people don’t eat entire boxes of huge chocolates on a regular basis. Here’s a great recipe for your leftover Valentine’s Day sweets, Fondue! Fondue may not be the most common of dishes, although in the seventies it was everywhere. Fondue gatherings are a great chance to be interactive during dinner parties and it’s so easy to make even those who can’t cook can enjoy the simple dish. Be creative with what you choose to dip as well. Baked goods like pound cake or cookies, fresh fruit such as strawberries or bananas work well, too.                                Dark Chocolate Fondue  Ingredients: ...

Roses are Red...

I've always wondered why roses are the "go to" gift for Valentine's Day. I can remember my mom getting roses from my dad when I was a kid, Valentine's flowers being passed out in high school, and even co-workers get bouquets on this special day... but why? The myth still believed by people today is that the  Emperor Claudius the third outlawed marriage so that young men would enjoy join his army, but Priest Valentine would still conduct marriages in secret as he believed deeply in love. Claudius eventually found out about Valentine and had him sentenced to death for disobeying the law. While in jail Valentine fell in love with the jailor's daughter.  Their love was shortlived as his death sentence soon came up. Before he was beheaded, he gave the girl a note and one red rose, hence the very first Valentine which came flowers. Very sweet and romantic story, makes me want to buy roses for everyone!
