Cutest Halloween Recipe EVER!!!!

Happy Halloween!!
Today is one of the spookiest days of the year and probably my favorite holiday of all. The amazing crisp autumn air, orange and red leaves swirling in a whirlwind. Colorful costumes and delighted children rushing from house to house collecting an eight year olds version of gold. Halloween is a really fun tradition dating as far back as the Roman era. It was originally a day to celebrate summer’s end. Our version has a different meaning now and is much more of a novelty, but still a wonderful celebration of all things spooky.
Halloween is notorious for candy. It’s unheard of not to eat candy on Halloween. But candy is only good in small amounts. Today’s recipe is something a little different. It will give you something filling and nutritious to snack on, while still keeping with spooky tradition.

Mummy Dogs w/ Green Mummy Sauce
(Serves about 8)
Ingredients:
·         1 can (8 oz) crescent dinner rolls or
·         2 ½ slices American cheese, cut in quarters
·         10 large hot dogs (we recommend veggie dogs!)

For Mummy Sauce:

·         1 1/2 cups baby spinach leaves
·         3/4 cup eSutras Organics Tulsi Basil Leaves
·         1/2 cup toasted pine nuts
·         1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
·         4 cloves garlic, peeled and quartered
·         3/4 teaspoon eSutras Organics Garlic Salt
·         1/2 teaspoon eSutras Organics Black Pepper
·         1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
·         1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
·         1/2 cup eSutras Organics Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

Directions:
1.     Heat oven to 375°F.
2.     Using crescent rolls: Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal.
3.      Slice cheese slices into quarters (1/2 slice cheese, cut in half).
4.     Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like "bandages," stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate "bandages" so hot dog shows through for "face."
5.     On ungreased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down).
6.     Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. With mustard (if desired), draw features on "face."
Directions for Mummy Sauce:
1.     Blend the spinach, basil, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, garlic, garlic salt, pepper, lemon juice, lemon zest, and 2 tablespoons olive oil in a food processor until nearly smooth, scraping the sides of the bowl with a spatula as necessary. Drizzle the remaining olive oil into the mixture while processing until smooth.

And there you have it! A delicious and different kind of Halloween treats, with a gourmet and organic dipping sauce. Everyone will want to eat lots!
