There are tons of natural ways to heal everyday ailments. Going to the doctor, waiting hours to be seen, and paying extraordinary prices for chemically processed’s all a hassle. Stress from this process might even aggravate your condition making it worse! So I’ve decided to every so often make a post about a specific ailment and eSutras Organics all natural way of helping to heal you! Gout is a sometimes painful join inflammation caused by high levels of uric acid in your blood stream. Uric acid is a chemical which is a natural part of the normal breaking down and building up of food and body tissues.  Normally, uric acid is dissolved in the blood and passed through the kidneys into the urine, where it is eliminated. It commonly affects the big toe, but it can strike in many other joints. You should avoid certain food and drinks because they tend to aggravate the infection. The list of prohibited food includes:
  • Offal foods such as liver, kidneys, tripe, sweetbreads and tongue
  • Excessive amounts of red meat
  • Shellfish, fish roe and scallops
  • Peas, lentils and beans
  • Alcoholic beverages
Foods you can eat include: Raisins, wheat, ginger, and milk. These foods are low in purines, which convert to uric acid when consumed.
eSutras Organics has a couple of suggested remedies, though. Try making a tea of Juniper Berry and Nettles. One teaspoon each of Juniper berries and Nettle leaf boiled with 5 cups of water. Drink as much as possible. Juniper is a diuretic herb known to lower level of uric acid. It also has anti-inflammatory properties beneficial to arthritis, which affects joints similar to gout. Nettle leaf facilitates the movement of uric acid in the joints and helps elimination through the kidneys.
Another solution we think would do wonders would be Ashwagandha and Kava root capsules. Two a day would be our recommended dosage.
